The COVID-19 virus outbreak that first emerged in Wuhan province in China in late 2019 has expanded rapidly across more than a dozen provinces and municipalities, according to the National Health Commission. Daily infections have more than doubled and the rate of increase in daily cases will determine whether China’s containment measures which include a complete lockdown are still effective. The total number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has reached 14,682,758 and the total number of reported deaths has reached 122,678. The European Commission on Friday authorized Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for use in children as young as 12, paving the way for a broader roll-out in the bloc after similar clearances in the United States and Canada.
